“I GOT STUCK NOT ONLY IN THE FIRST ESSAY”: A NARRATIVE INQUIRY ON STUDENTS’ WRITING DIFFICULTIES

چکیده

Writing, one of the language skills, seems to be most difficult skill for students master. There are five aspects used evaluate students’ writing abilities: content, organization, vocabulary, use, and mechanics. This current narrative inquiry research aims find out difficulties in expository essays, factors that cause them have difficulties, strategies they use overcome them. The data this were taken from taking Writing Expository Argumentative Essays course English Department Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University. study collected interviews, observations, documents. Three participants with middle-achievement levels interviewed three interview sessions, observations class conducted two times. Besides, essays each participant analyzed.
